GMRC salmon distribution to community Elders

Description: This summer, the staff of GMRC participated in the annual salmon fishery in Listuguj. It is important to us to begin practicing our traditions and customs when it comes to natural resource management.

The Listuguj river provided us with many salmon. With those salmon we were able to hold a community salmon feast that was open to everyone. As well, we were able to gather names of Elders from the communities of Listuguj, Eel River Bar, and Pabineau and deliver salmon to them also.

We did this in the spirit of Netugulimg, a way of interacting with our environment, that supports the well-being of the individual and community at large. At the same time, taking care not to jeopardize the integrity, diversity, and sustainability of Mother Earth.
