GMRC Salmon Feast

June 20, 2008- Oftentimes we look for reasons to gather and to celebrate. But sometimes being alive at this moment in history and celebrating who you are is good enough. On Friday, June 20th, we did just that.

The Gespe'gewaq Mi'gmaq Resource Council purchased salmon from the local fishers and had them prepared, wonderfully, by the Listuguj Elders' Lodge.

Approximately 150 people showed up to enjoy the salmon, the yard sale, the boat rides, the Red Horse drummers, and the people.

We would like to thank Lawrence Vicaire Jr. for his donation of 4 salmon. We also thank the Elders' Lodge for the great salmon meal and the Listuguj Rangers for providing boat rides. Thank you to Metallic's Grocery, Barnaby's Grocery, Wysote's Convenience, and the Restigouche Drive-thru for their donations of water and ice. And thank you to Red Horse for their drumming and singing.

We are proud of the support received from our communities and we are grateful for all that Mother Earth provides us with.
