February 19, 2010 - It is important for GMRC to continue to seek guidance and knowledge from our Elders. In doing so strengthens the relationships with our communities and also within them.
On Friday February 12th, GMRC held its follow-up meeting for the Elders Gathering previously held on January 14th. The comments, concerns, and ideas of the Elders at the initial meeting, were compiled into a report and presented back to the Elders by Ann Gladue-Buffalo, GMRC’s Chief Executive Assistant.
January 18, 2010 – It is heard all too often that our people do not gather enough anymore. So just before Christmas the staff at GMRC decided to hold a small gathering in January for the Elders in Listuguj.
It was an opportunity for Elders to get together and share stories, share laughter, and share knowledge. GMRC also took this time to pay tribute and honor to the Elders that agreed, last summer, to participate in videotaped discussions.
The Short-Term Transitional Measures program will assist qualified low-income lobster license holders in Quebec and Atlantic Canada who have experienced financial hardship due to the global economic downturn of 2007-2009. Applicants can apply to the program until January 31, 2010.
