The Gespe’gewaq Mi’gmaq Resource Council (GMRC) is a non-profit environmental organization with a mandate to promote sustainable natural resource and oceans management within the traditional territory of Gespe’gewa’gi, Mi’gma’gi, the largest district in the Mi’gmaq Nation.
We are pleased to announce that "Say Y.E.S. to Eel River Bar: Youth Environmental Stewards Program" has been approved for the youth of Eel River Bar.
GMRC will deliver a three-week summer program encouraging youth stewards to protect the environment.

We are coming together to celebrate the Mi'gmaq people and recognize three local community members who have made important contributions to their community and their nation. There will be dancing, laughing, and good food.

01/28/11 - The purpose of the Gespe'gewaq Mi'gmaq Resource Council (GMRC) is to promote sustainable natural resource and oceans management within the traditional territory of Gespe’gewa’gi, Mi’gma’gi, the seventh and largest district in the Mi’gmaq Nation.

We invite all Pabineau community members to join us for Tim Horton's tea, coffee, and lunch! The research team from GMRC will be reporting back to the community on research presently being conducted and gathering feedback and input for future work.

01/12/2011 - Mi’gmaq have long relied on the natural resources of this land. Throughout the territory of Mi’gma’gi (which includes the Atlantic provinces, portions of New Brunswick, and the Gaspe) natural resources from the lands and waters have sustained Mi’gmaw for thousands of years.

The Atlantic Salmon Federation (ASF) is calling on government and the aquaculture industry to provide transparency and compliance in reporting escapes from open net cages in the Bay of Fundy.

Rescuers wrapped 88-year-old Rebecca LaBillois in a blanket for protection against a whipping wind and carried the elder out of her Eel River Bar First Nation home in northern New Brunswick on Monday afternoon, just as her front step was washed away in a storm surge.
GMRC is pleased to release, "A review of the health, habitat, and management of the Atlantic salmon on the Restigouche River".
This salmon technical report, developed by GMRC, examines Mi'gmaw perspectives in relation to natural resource management, and also seeks to address current management issues through the combination of Mi'gmaw ecological knowledge and western science. Also included in the report are 13 general recommendations to further the sustainable management of the salmon.
